Simultan For Tiden (2023)

Simultan For Tiden (2023) (“Simultaneous at Present”) is a sound installation that explores our perception of time. What does it mean to listen ‘patiently’?

With inspiration from the design philosophy Slow Technology, this installation introduces an element of resistance. When we experience resistance, we become aware of time, and this creates the experience of slowness. The interaction is minimalistic, but difficult: The listener can play the singing bowl, but only by controlling their own pulse.

Simultan for Tiden was developed as part of my Masters Thesis in Audiodesign, Aarhus University. It also became the beginning of a string of pieces exploring the concept of patient listening as activism.
